Meet the Administration Team

Jodi Contento

It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to PS 78 Stapleton Lighthouse Community School! Our school is a vibrant community where students, families, and staff come together to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. We are dedicated to fostering a culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.

At PS 78, our core values—Collaboration, Achievement, Respect, and Effort—guide everything we do:

  • Collaboration: We believe in the power of teamwork and strong partnerships between students, families, staff, and the broader community. Together, we can achieve great things.
  • Achievement: We are committed to helping every student reach their full potential and celebrate their successes, both big and small.
  • Respect: We cultivate an environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated for who they are, embracing the diversity of our community.
  • Effort: We encourage perseverance, hard work, and a growth mindset as the foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth.

Our mission is to ensure every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. By fostering a love of learning, promoting inclusion, and prioritizing safety, we are creating a school community where all members feel empowered to contribute and succeed.

I encourage you to get involved, whether by attending our community events, volunteering, or engaging in open communication with our team. Your support is essential to building the strong and connected community that makes PS 78 great!

Thank you for being an integral part of our school family. Let’s make this a remarkable place  for everyone!

Ms. Jacobsen has been the Assistant Principal at P.S.78 since the fall of 2015. Prior to becoming Assistant Principal, Ms. Jacobsen was a special education teacher, literacy specialist and special education coordinator. Ms. Jacobsen taught grades 2-6 during her time as a teacher. Ms. Jacobsen was drawn this this profession because of her love of children and books. She believes there is nothing greater than giving the gift of reading to students and instilling a love of literature. Ms. Jacobsen also was an adjunct professor at Wagner College for many years, because she believes in the importance of supporting and educating future teachers with practical real world experiences. She has been an Orton Gillingham trained teacher since 2009 with over 60 hours of coursework in that subject area. Ms. Jacobsen loves seeing children learn and enjoy themselves by just being kids. She loves the P.S.78 school community wholeheartedly and strives every day to support growth.
